Under the radar narratives for Super Bowl LIV

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs explosive offense going up against the San Francisco 49ers defense loaded with first rounders at the defensive line. That's the narrative surrounding the Super Bowl and we get this stuff every year, it's two weeks with no games and a lot of build up but sometimes a single battle gets a little overplayed and we lose perspective of other important factors. If you never heard of football before in your life and by some reason you decided to listen to the Super Bowl coverage, you'd be shocked to hear that the 49ers offense actually outscored and outgained the Kansas City Chiefs this season Offensive yards: 6097 SF     6067 KC Points for: 479 SF     451 KC The gap is small to the point it doesn't mean much if anything but the hype surrounding Mahomes has propelled the public perception to the point where the Chiefs seem to be in a different stratosphere. San Francisco has a top notch offense and they can ...

Eli Manning made the right decision in 2004

Way back in 2004 before the NFL Draft, all the buzz surrounded Eli Manning and the ultimatum he gave to the San Diego Chargers, I won't play for you, pulling a John Elway trying to avoid being selected by a disfuncional franchise and despite being officially picked by San Diego it didn't take very long until they shipped him off to the Giants for Phillip Rivers and a bunch of picks. Now here we are almost two decades later, Eli Making recently announced his retirement and the future surrounding Phillip Rivers is completely unknown, he recently moved his family to Florida. The scenario each one of them is facing right now illustrates why Manning made the right decision by opting not to play for the Chargers. It's easy to look at the two Superbowls and say everything worked out for him, but playing in San Diego hasn't been the worst thing in the world over the last 15 years, they probably had more talent than the Giants over that period, definitely more...

Manchester United need help, a lot of it

The sector of Manchester United fans at the Etihad for the second leg of the semifinal in the Carabao Cup probably didn't went in with a lot of hope that the team would go through, that's what happens when you suffer an embarrassing 3-1 defeat at home, the score actually didn't do much distance to the superiority of Manchester City, Guardiola's men dominated that match and United only scored at the end when City had already taken their foot off the gas, despite their slim chances, Solskjaer's side grinded out a 1-0 win that wasn't enough to get them through to the final, but that's not what I want to discuss. Right now, January 2020, the gap between these two Manchester clubs is so big that United should stop everything that they are doing and reevaluate it all, and don't give me the money argument, United even with all this mediocrity post Alex Ferguson is still the most valuable club in England, they certainly have more money than Liverpool. A ...

Aston Villa outlasts Leicester in a battle of survival

As Aston Villa supporters invaded the pitch after the side's 2-1 win against Leicester to take them to the final of the League Cup, we got a look at the better side of football way back in the day Dean Smith's squad had a lot of things going against them an up and down season in the Premier League, Wesley and McGinn both suffering very serious injuries, entering the second leg of the semifinal against a much superior side with your third string goalie and a striker who is making his debut after signing from Genk, playing at a different level of speed, despite his talent I don't think it was fair to expect much if anything from Samatta today, the first Tanzanian to play in England. Despite all that went wrong for them, Aston Villa still managed to come out victorious willing their way into a victory with a goal in extra time by Trezeguet that broke the tie just when we seemed destined to get a penalty shootout. Much like in most upset wins the former European champions ...
